Meet Lucy Stimac!
She is a senior studying English at TMU. Lucy also happens to be the fourth generation of her family to be affiliated with TMU!
Back when TMU was known as Los Angeles Baptist College, Lucy’s great-grandfather was living near the newly purchased Newhall campus. A member of the board of trustees, John Stimac also had a wide knowledge of agriculture and landscaping. Using his skills, he helped design the landscaping around LABC’s library and cafeteria.
Through the relationship between John and LABC, Lucy’s grandfather, John Stimac Jr., became aware of the school and attended during his freshman year, taking Bible and lower division classes that laid a strong foundation for his professional and family life.
But the Stimacs’ legacy didn’t end there. Lucy’s father and mother, Josh and Janella Stimac, both attended what was then called The Master’s College, and went on to raise their family close to campus in the Santa Clarita Valley. When it was Lucy’s turn to pick a college, she chose TMU!
“TMU has given us a really good Christian community in Santa Clarita,” Lucy said. “California has the reputation of being very worldly and that can be true of anywhere, but having solid connections here and with people who are solid in their faith has been such a blessing. Because of TMU we have become close with a lot of faithful and godly people. We are very grateful for that.”
