To master audio production, you’ll need to demonstrate proficiency in industry-standard software, and skills for both audio recording and post-production. Additionally, you’ll need to be able to engage in thoughtful discussions as a confident speaker and attentive listener. This includes interpreting, analyzing, and summarizing information in order to present persuasive opinions and promote discourse.
This interdisciplinary degree offers courses in sound production and electronic communication, giving students a strong foundation in sound design, film, and music production. This prepares them for a diverse set of entertainment-related careers. Our graduates are also well-equipped for media positions in churches, parachurch organizations, and nonprofits.
The school provides an acoustically mastered recital hall that is flexible for rehearsals, concerts, and recording sessions, in addition to 15 Wenger sound-proof practice rooms, including some V-rooms with built-in emulation of larger environments. Students have access to 33 pianos, two organs, and two harpsichords. The Master’s University music facilities include the most recent music notation and sequencing software programs. The state-of-the-art recording facility is integrated into the recital hall. This all-digital room is anchored by a 32-fader ICON D-Control work surface and features an industry-standard Avid Pro Tools HDX2 system with a variety of plugins and outboard processing. The studio is used for classes as well as school ensemble projects, allowing audio technology students to put their knowledge to the test in a real-world studio recording context.
Music facilities include a computer lab featuring Macintosh/Roland music workstations, each complemented with the most recent music notation and sequencing software programs. Students have access to the latest in computer-generated composition, digital sequencer recording, and educational technology. The School of Music offers courses in conjunction with the music technology lab that focuses on equipping students with the abilities and experience to utilize the techniques available to the music profession.

TMU Theatre Arts is a co-curricular program housed in the Communication Department. It is designed to give training and expression in the performing arts alongside any major at the University. Participants and contributors come from all disciplines, dorms, and interests at TMU. Our program offers classes such as Theatre Arts, Theatre Production, and Introduction to Acting, allowing any students to receive formal, credited training in the performing arts.

An exploration of podcasting as a form of journalism. Students will be introduced to the various types of podcasts and podcast outlets. They will work with classmates to research a podcast concept and then regularly produce and publish it. Components of marketing and attracting subscribers will also be discussed. Computer expertise is not required.
A study of film from its early conceptual stages to its familiar modern format. Also included will be film’s influence on society and the biblical response.
Exploration of sound, acoustics, and sound systems, including system processors and signal processing; building a live mix; and producing live sound for worship, theater, concert, and corporate events.
The study of sound editing techniques using Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) like Pro Tools as it applies to modern media: film, television, radio, etc.
