When it comes to defending Scripture’s all-sufficiency, there’s no question as to where Dr. Abner Chou stands.
“Every generation needs to fight the battle for the Bible,” said The Master’s University president. “The final battle is the battle for the sufficiency of Scripture, because if you have an inerrant, inspired revelation that cannot speak to anything that is happening today, then it’s a mute revelation. And a mute revelation is no revelation at all.”
In defense of this essential doctrine, TMU will partner with affiliated ministries to host a special event titled “The Sufficiency of Scripture Summit” in November. The gathering is designed to galvanize today’s generation of the church to understand, embrace, and defend the doctrine of the sufficiency of Scripture.
The Summit will be held Nov. 6-7 at Grace Community Church. Registration is open to anyone interested in learning the truth of God’s Word more deeply and advocating for its sufficiency with passion, clarity, and conviction.
Participants will experience preaching and seminars exploring how Scripture’s sufficiency applies to every area of life.
“Sufficiency is the declaration that Scripture has spoken,” Chou said. “It spoke clearly and authoritatively, and it’s binding on everything in this life and existence.”
Chou will be one of the main speakers at the Summit, alongside Dr. Nathan Busenitz (executive vice president of The Master’s Seminary) and other special guests. TMU is hosting the event in partnership with several other ministries, including Grace Community Church, The Master’s Seminary, and The Master’s Academy International.
Immediately preceding the Summit, a group of ministry leaders, scholars, and pastors will gather to sign a statement on the sufficiency of Scripture. The goal of this statement, like with the Summit, is to embolden the church to proclaim, defend, and live by this doctrine.
“The doctrine of sufficiency is the presuppositional reality of The Master’s University,” Chou said. “The reason we have ‘Christian education,’ so called, is because we are under the absolute conviction and confidence that the Word of God determines everything in this existence. As we approach our 100th year, we want to be the generation that fights for the Scripture and renews our commitment to the Word of God. That is what prompts the call that we want to head up for ourselves and for others at the Summit.”
