You can't really know what our community at TMU is like until you visit campus. But we'll try to give you an idea!
Today, we remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. We’re deeply grateful for their sacrifice and the freedoms we enjoy because of it.

Meet Yoshua!
Yoshua is from the Netherlands, and as he grew up, he saw a need for sound biblical theology in the churches in his home country. He developed a desire to be trained as a pastor in order to meet that need.
While he was searching for a seminary to attend, Yoshua learned of The Master’s Seminary through a TMS alum. He was immediately inspired by the conviction and sound biblical theology of TMS. But in order to become a student there, Yoshua needed a bachelor’s degree.
Fortunately, The Master’s University had just the program: the five-year Master of Divinity, which combines a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies from TMU with the M.Div. from TMS.
The Lord graciously provided the necessary finances, including scholarships, and Yoshua is now a student at TMU and working toward his desire for pastoral ministry.
“Two years ago I wasn’t even thinking about having the ability to afford a program like this,” Yoshua said. “God is faithful. That’s the thing I want to take away: God is faithful, even when I don’t feel it always.”

Meet Ty Erickson! He’s a freshman from Scottsdale, Arizona, studying business at TMU.
When Ty first came to TMU, he never envisioned becoming the lead in TMU’s most recent theatre arts production. He enjoyed doing theater growing up, but he didn’t think he would be able to perform during his time in college. But after some friends encouraged him to audition for the spring musical, Ty decided to give it a shot. Just hours after receiving a callback, Ty was cast as Dimitri, the leading man in Anastasia.
Ty says he can see God’s hand at work in receiving his role in Anastasia. He sees it as a gift from the Lord that he had never expected. The rehearsals can be taxing and time-consuming, he says, but those long rehearsals bring people together to create a beautifully crafted production, and Ty says that product is definitely worth it.
Ty is so thankful for the blessing and encouragement of forming new friendships through theatre arts. “I’ve just been taking moments to pray and thank God,” Ty says, “because of the love that He bestowed in allowing all of us to be a part of this play. It was such an incredible opportunity.”

Meet Lucy Stimac!
She is a senior studying English at TMU. Lucy also happens to be the fourth generation of her family to be affiliated with TMU!
Back when TMU was known as Los Angeles Baptist College, Lucy’s great-grandfather was living near the newly purchased Newhall campus. A member of the board of trustees, John Stimac also had a wide knowledge of agriculture and landscaping. Using his skills, he helped design the landscaping around LABC’s library and cafeteria.
Through the relationship between John and LABC, Lucy’s grandfather, John Stimac Jr., became aware of the school and attended during his freshman year, taking Bible and lower division classes that laid a strong foundation for his professional and family life.
But the Stimacs’ legacy didn’t end there. Lucy’s father and mother, Josh and Janella Stimac, both attended what was then called The Master’s College, and went on to raise their family close to campus in the Santa Clarita Valley. When it was Lucy’s turn to pick a college, she chose TMU!
“TMU has given us a really good Christian community in Santa Clarita,” Lucy said. “California has the reputation of being very worldly and that can be true of anywhere, but having solid connections here and with people who are solid in their faith has been such a blessing. Because of TMU we have become close with a lot of faithful and godly people. We are very grateful for that.”
