Hello! My name is Patty Tsai. I am the Registrar for The Master’s University & Seminary. My staff and I support the academic function of the community in numerous ways including registration for classes, grades, transcript requests, degree requirements, graduation progress, athletic academic eligibility, transfer evaluations, academic policies and procedures, Commencement, enrollment verifications and so much more. The Office of the Registrar (a.k.a. Registrar’s Office) is located at the front of Vider Hall.
My goal here is to provide you with knowledge so that you can be a support to your student through their academic career.
What You Should Know
The start of every academic term is always full of excitement. For new students, WOW is all about making new friends, learning a new culture, and finding their way around campus. The first week of classes is when reality hits, syllabus shock sets in, and students start questioning what they are studying. That does not necessarily mean that they are in the wrong class, but sometimes it does. The first couple weeks are a student’s opportunity to correct their class schedule by either adding or dropping a class.
Why might a student change their class schedule? Sometimes students come to campus and are inspired by students or faculty to change their area of study. Transfer students might enroll in a class they previously took because the title is different. Work and other commitments might crop up and require a different class schedule. A student might realize that they didn’t get into the class that they were waitlisted for and need another class.
Before making any changes to their schedule, the first thing students should do is talk with their advisor. There is a lot of information out there, but advisors can provide wisdom and discernment in their areas of specialty. They can help your students make decisions about their schedule each semester.
The deadline for such changes this semester is Monday, September 12, 2022, at midnight. Deadlines for online classes are different. The deadlines have been emailed to students at their TMU email and can be found on the Student Portal.
I encourage you to direct your students to keep an eye on their email for important information and to visit the Registrar’s Office if they have questions. The faculty and staff at The Master’s University are here to come alongside your students as they grow in maturity and in Christ.
