With the new year comes a new Campus Life team. The crew consists of some returning students and some new ones who have made sweet friendships while preparing for freshman year. These devoted six TMU students, with the Director of Student Activities, work and create various events for the TMU students year-round.
The traditional WOW Week – Week of Welcome – included the Campus Life Team welcoming everyone on the side of the road, giving out too much candy, and providing lots of fun events! Our freshmen visited the beach, got to know our staff and professors, fellowshipped at a worship night under the stars, and were probably overwhelmed with all the information coming their way about their future educational journeys. Most importantly, they were able to build friendships in their dorms and listen to sermons from some of the staff. We hope this time encouraged them and that it will be a foundation to stand on as the year begins.
Speaking of dorms, WOW Week, as always, reached a high point by ending with the Master’s Cup! Each of the six on-campus dorms, off-campus, and Canyon homes stepped into the TMU gym and faced each other in various competitions all around the campus. Campus Life organized 10 stations featuring a giant inflatable, a Bible trivia game, pool diving for coins, an egg race, and a daring taste test. Staff, faculty, alumni, and family members were present in the gym to support the teams. In the women’s competition, Hotchkiss Hall brought the trophy back home. Waldock took the victory for the men’s competition. The winning dorm has the honor of keeping the trophy for one year before bringing it back to the gym the following August for another Master’s Cup.
Campus Life is thankful and excited for this new group of freshmen joining our campus. Seeing new friendships come to be, watching them participate in our games but also having meaningful conversations, asking thought-provoking questions, and expressing joy in attending The Master’s University makes us even more excited for this school year!
