Director

Don Hedges

Dr. Hedges joined TMU after a distinguished 23-year tenure at Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois, where he excelled as a teacher, director, and administrator across various roles. Before that, he spent five years teaching and serving as registrar at North American Baptist College and Edmonton Baptist Seminary in Edmonton, Alberta. During the same period, he served as Pastor of Music and Worship at Richview Baptist Church in Toronto, Ontario. With an undergraduate degree in music composition and graduate degrees in music theory—complemented by minors in conducting, arts administration, and stage direction—Dr. Hedges brings unparalleled expertise to his field.

His passion lies in understanding and articulating the essence of music—what it is, why it exists, and how it functions. He has taught extensively on the theology and practice of worship and has mentored numerous church music and worship interns. This deep interest in the role of music within congregational worship drives his current research and writing.

Dr. Hedges and his wife, Pamela, are proud parents to four grown children, two wonderful daughters-in-law, and one cherished baby grandson.
