The Master’s University has been ranked No. 1 for career preparation on the West Coast, according to the Wall Street Journal’s annual rankings for colleges and universities. These rankings are based on a survey of current students and recent alumni from roughly 2,000 schools.
TMU also came in No. 9 nationally for this same category, marking the second straight year that TMU came in the top 10 nationally for career preparation.
Here are some other highlights from TMU’s rankings among West Coast institutions (which covers the states of California, Arizona, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Alaska, and Hawaii):
No. 1 for “Learning Environment Score”
No. 2 for “Learning Opportunities”
No. 3 for “Learning Facilities”
TMU’s mission is to prepare students for lives of faithfulness to Christ — and one component of that is equipping them to do excellent work in the careers the Lord calls them to. This equipping takes place both inside and outside of the classroom, with a robust liberal arts curriculum preparing students with the skills necessary to excel in a wide range of fields, and multiple departments designed specifically to promote students’ professional growth.
The Office of Student Employment plays a key role in preparing students for life in the workplace by helping them build professional skills through on-campus jobs. These opportunities round out students’ experience in the classroom by giving them places to practice what they’re learning and explore potential careers.
The Office of Career Services also plays a large part in preparing students for the workforce. In addition to meeting with students to provide one-on-one career guidance, the department also organizes cornerstone events like career fairs, seminars, and The Master Interview, which give students opportunities to network with employers and learn core skills (such as writing resumes and sitting for interviews).
And in the midst of this practical preparation, TMU emphasizes that career success is more than receiving paychecks and promotions. Career Services’ mission statement echoes that of TMU at large, clarifying that their goal is to help students and alumni build a career centered on “enduring commitment to Christ, biblical fidelity, moral integrity, intellectual growth, and lasting contribution to the Kingdom of God worldwide.”
In addition to TMU’s top marks in the category of career preparation, the WSJ also ranked TMU as No. 1 in the nation this year for “Character Development.” See this page for the full story. You can find the Wall Street Journal’s article on the 2025 Best Colleges rankings here (subscription needed).
