The Master’s University is welcoming more than 420 new students to campus this fall. This is the third time in the past four years when the incoming class has broken 400, and this new group brings the University’s traditional undergraduate student body to a record 1,220.
TMU’s recent wave of increased enrollment began about five years ago. And in 2021, a then-record 413 new students enrolled for the fall semester, followed by another record-breaking class the following year.
TMU received over 3,400 applications for the fall 2024 semester. The incoming class arrived Saturday for the Week of Welcome, with continuing students set to return Aug. 24. Classes start Aug. 26.
On Saturday, freshman entrepreneurship major Noah Arellano said he was most excited for “the fellowship, making new friends, and learning more about God and growing in faith.”
“Students work very hard to get to TMU,” says Dariu Dumitru, vice president of enrollment and marketing at TMU. He highlights that the average high school GPA of this incoming class is 3.7.
TMU’s new class includes students from 34 different states across America, as well as almost 40 international students. The class includes about 80 athletes and nearly 100 transfer students. Students come from a wide range of educational backgrounds, with a “roughly even split” between homeschool/charter, private, and public school students.
Though they come from a variety of backgrounds, these students are united in their convictions. All incoming students sign TMU’s doctrinal statement, and they overwhelmingly point to TMU’s commitment to Christ and Scripture as the driving reason behind their desire to attend.
“Every student provides a pastor’s recommendation, affirms TMU’s doctrinal statement, and — my personal favorite to read through — writes a testimony of faith outlining our Savior’s grace and love to them in their salvation,” Dumitru says. “Because at TMU, we are all uncompromisingly committed to Christ and to the sufficiency, inerrancy, and authority of Scripture.”
