One of The Master’s University’s longest-serving faculty members recently released a book highlighting some of the most important figures in early church history.
In “Introducing the Apostolic Fathers,” Dr. William Varner explores the lives and commentary of Christian leaders who wrote in the years after the death of the apostles. The book bridges the gap between the apostolic age and the age of the church, delving into historic writings on core Christian doctrines.
“The Apostolic Fathers were among the first Christian leaders to write after the apostles, offering invaluable insight into how the earliest believers understood and lived out the gospel,” Varner said. “My hope is that this short volume will help readers discover the richness of their faith and see its continuing relevance for the church today.”
The book was endorsed by Dr. Gregg Frazer, dean of the John P. Stead School of Humanities at The Master’s University, and published through G3 Press.
Varner is the author of more than 20 books, including a trilogy on the Life of Christ, which explores Christ’s advent, ministry, and passion week. He has written about the book of James, the Old Testament prophets, and patriarchs like Jacob, providing valuable insight and context for both well-known and overlooked passages.
“Introducing the Apostolic Fathers” is available for purchase here.
