A seasonal staple at The Master’s University, the 41st annual Come Christmas Sing! concerts will take place on Dec. 6 in The MacArthur Center on campus. This year’s series is titled “Alleluia,” and will feature performances from TMU’s many ensembles.
“The birth of Jesus Christ is, of course, one of the best of all reasons to ‘praise the Lord,’ and numerous authors and composers have recognized this by using ‘Alleluia!’ in their hymns and anthems,” said Dr. Don Hedges, dean of TMU’s Paul T. Plew School of Music. “This year’s concerts illustrate this, incorporating two pieces (by Randall Thompson and Ralph Manuel) for which this memorable word constitutes the entire text, and several other works (by Dan Forrest, J.A.C Redford, and Elaine Hagenberg) that employ it prominently.
“We know you may have good reasons for not looking forward to this holiday season, and it may seem a bit ‘ho hum’ at the outset. However, it’s our prayer that, whatever your circumstances, these concerts will illuminate dark places so that you can, with us, gladly praise the One Who deserves all our attention and adoration.”
TMU will also host its fourth annual Christmas Market outside The MacArthur Center on Dec. 6. Inspired by European Christmas markets, the event will feature small businesses selling hand-crafted items such as jewelry, candles, ornaments, quilts, and baked goods.
Come by on Saturday, Dec. 6 between 1 and 9 p.m., to experience the market. You don’t need a ticket to TMU’s Christmas concerts for entrance to the market.
