This fall, The Master’s University welcomed Matthew Croxton to the School of Science, Mathematics, Technology & Health as a biology professor. With years of experience in both real-world research and classroom teaching, Croxton is excited to share his love of organismal biology at TMU.
After earning his undergraduate degree in biology from Bryan College in Tennessee, Croxton worked at a National Cancer Institute-designated research center in Florida. He then discovered a love for leading research in plant science and obtained a master’s degree in forest resources and conservation from the University of Florida.
When the opportunity to teach high school biology came, Croxton was eager to show the next generation “God’s mercy in creation, and His creativity.” Croxton said that his interest in teaching goes beyond helping students earn a paycheck or climb a corporate ladder.
“As Ecclesiastes 12 commands, ‘Remember your Creator,’” Croxton said. “I want to encourage young people to seize this season of life to invest wisely in understanding their Creator. I’m so excited to come to TMU and emphasize that for the undergraduates and courses I teach.”
Croxton first learned about TMU through his involvement in young Earth creation research conferences, where he met Dr. Matthew McLain, dean of TMU’s School of Science, Mathematics, Technology & Health.
McLain said that the school is “thrilled” to be adding Croxton to its faculty. “Students will love getting to go outdoors with him to get a hands-on perspective on how all of nature works together to bring glory to God.”
