Assistant Professor of Music
Prof. Sarah Dixon serves as the Director of Vocal Studies at The Master’s University, where she teaches various courses, including Individual Voice, English and Foreign Language Diction, Vocal Pedagogy and Literature, Performance Practicum, and Recital classes. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and Music Education from The Master’s University. She went on to complete a Master of Music in Vocal Arts at California State University, Northridge, under the mentorship of Dr. Deanna Murray.
Prof. Dixon’s vocal talents have taken her around the globe, with performances in Israel, Spain, Italy, France, Russia, and as a soloist at the prestigious Carnegie Hall. Her extensive concert repertoire includes featured solos in Rutter’s Gloria, Handel’s Messiah, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Haydn’s Creation, in addition to her experience in opera and musical theater. Among her favorite roles are Marian in The Music Man, Mabel in Pirates of Penzance, Wendy in Peter Pan, and Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte.
In addition to her performance career, Prof. Dixon is dedicated to vocal education. She has led numerous voice workshops and masterclasses and co-founded “Songs of Summer,” a summer music camp designed for young singers. She has also adjudicated in various events, including the Santa Clarita Choral Educators Association Scholarship Auditions, the ACSI Musicale, NATS SEP auditions, and the Invitational High School Choral Festival in Santa Clarita.
Prof. Dixon remains an active performer, singing regularly with the Grace Baptist Church choir, the Pacific Chorale, and the Old Town Carolers. She also lends her voice to studio recordings on occasion. Sarah and her husband, Matt, have two sons, Isaiah and Zac.
