The Master’s University is developing a bachelor of science in agribusiness program and targeting a fall 2027 launch date, pending WSCUC approval and internal processes.
This program is designed to equip students with the practical knowledge — in both business and agricultural science — to work excellently in the agricultural industry, rooted in the biblical wisdom necessary to use that knowledge faithfully before the Lord.
“When families ask what sets this program apart, the answer is our foundational biblical worldview,” said Prof. Michael Nesheim, chair of TMU’s entrepreneurial studies program and a developer of this new program. “Other universities can teach commodity hedging and agronomy, but they can’t teach you who designed the seed, why the soil matters, or how to steward capital for the glory of God. Our program would unites rigorous business enterprise with a distinct biblical perspective on creation care.”
Students would be prepared for careers in areas such as farm and ranch management, agricultural marketing and sales, commodity and input industries, lending and farm credit, cooperatives, and agribusiness operations.
In addition to existing business and marketing courses, and TMU’s core biblical studies curriculum, courses proposed for this major include:
The program would include an agricultural management internship, involving supervised off-campus work with an approved farm, ranch, agribusiness, cooperative, or commodity organization. This would give students invaluable hands-on experience with the industry as part of their studies.
Students would also have the opportunity to join TMU’s Agriculture Club, which has grown to more than 100 members and currently manages a 2-acre property, with goats, sheep, and pigs.
“We’re combining hands-on field experience and entrepreneurial discipline with the timeless truths of God’s Word,” Nesheim said. “Our students will graduate equipped to start ventures, manage farms, and lead agribusinesses with high-level commercial acumen and a heart committed to kingdom impact.”
This major is being developed through the joint effort of TMU’s School of Business & Communication and the School of Science, Mathematics, Technology & Health.
