Junior Eden Chow’s time at TMU has been marked by worship and a deepening of convictions.
Standing in chapel every week, praising the Lord through song alongside more than a thousand fellow college students, has been a highlight of junior Eden Chow’s experience at The Master’s University. But it’s just one example of how she’s been blessed at TMU with the kind of Christian fellowship she long desired.
Although she grew up in a Christian home in England, Chow says she didn’t truly grasp the value of a faithful community until she was saved at 16. As she grew in her own walk, her desire for like-minded friends and mentors deepened, leading her to leave her secular high school and register for online dual-enrollment classes through TMU. There, her biblical convictions continued to form.
Chow says she saw similar growth in her older brother, Daniel, who was attending TMU in person at the time. Inspired by his spiritual maturation, she decided to move across the world to attend the University.
“I saw my brother’s growth and knew I wouldn’t have to compromise my faith to attend Master’s,” Eden says. “Constantly being surrounded by young believers and developing Christian friendships were blessings that I hadn’t previously experienced.”
Now in her junior year as a TMU marketing media major, Chow appreciates the University’s emphasis on doing all things for God’s glory.
“Whether it be in classes, conversations with friends, or when I’m working my on-campus job, we are constantly reminded of how we are called to live,” she says. “As Christians, we are held to a higher standard in our lives and in our work because we are reflections of Christ and His Word.”
TMU’s evangelism club is one way Chow has seen growth in her own knowledge and understanding of the Bible.
“Before TMU, I was fearful of evangelism because I thought I didn’t know what to say,” Chow says. “But the Spirit convicted me about sharing the good news, and He strengthened my confidence and deepened my desire to reach the lost. I can honestly say that I’ve never loved Christ or the Bible more than during my time at TMU.”
She feels this keenly during chapel. Chow says she experiences a remarkable joy when “people from all over the world gather to sing praises to their heavenly Father. Hearing all our voices come together is truly a little taste of heaven.”
