IDS Technology Innovation Program

Under the guidance of an academic advisor, students will major in Interdisciplinary Studies (IDS) and choose two concentrations —Engineering/Computer Science and Entrepreneurship — to form an individualized plan of study. This approach enables students to develop expertise in multiple areas while thinking more broadly about a given topic. A third student-led block includes an internship and capstone course. The degree trains students to be resourceful—innovating and creating new solutions, as well as finding different ways to tackle old challenges. Students will demonstrate their interdisciplinary learning in a student-designed capstone project at the end of the program. An internship experience is also required.

The Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (IDS) is a pragmatic recognition of Christ’s Lordship over all – in Him all things hold together” (Col. 1:17) and Christ as the culmination of “all treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Col. 2:3), as applied in academic studies. With the mentorship of academic advisors in the department, students are trained to develop expertise in multiple areas of concentration and resourcefully prepare the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue their unique interests and career aspirations. Students will demonstrate their interdisciplinary learning in a student-designed capstone project at the end of the program. An internship experience is also required. As with other degrees in this department, Interdisciplinary Studies emphasizes the importance of personal, spiritual, and professional growth through a vigorous course of study, with the understanding that there exists no dichotomy between the secular and the sacred, as “all things” can be done “for the glory of God” (1 Cor. 10:31).
