Last week, Dr. Greg Gifford appeared as a special guest on an episode of “Relatable with Allie Beth Stuckey,” the No. 4-ranked podcast in Spotify’s “Religion and Spirituality” category. He discussed his latest book, “Lies My Therapist Told Me: Why Christians Should Aim for More Than Just Treating Symptoms.”
In the episode, he unpacks the mind-brain distinction and how the two are often confused in the world’s understanding of behavioral problems.
Gifford serves as the chair of the biblical studies department and a biblical counseling professor at The Master’s University. His book was published by Broadside Books, an imprint of HarperCollins, and seeks to be “the definitive Christian critique of secular psychiatry and psychology,” according to its publisher’s description.
“While the mental health enterprise fails, perpetuating faulty ideas and faulty solutions, the Bible shines bright,” Gifford says. “God’s Word tells us what the mind is and how it can be transformed. Some of us, as Christians, have settled for inferior solutions in mental health, and God’s Word is superior.”
Gifford’s book, “Lies My Therapist Told Me,” can be purchased on Amazon.
