Who says The Master's University doesn't have a football team? We've got several - each determined by a systematic draft to ensure teams are balanced. Intramural football season runs almost the entirety of the fall semester, with each team playing once a week. And don't let the word "flag" fool you-these games can get pretty physical! But after all, it's all in good fun.
If you you're up for it, sign up in the Student Activities in King Hall during the first week of class. Once the draft takes place, we'll notify you of your team, schedule, and rules of play.
Play your best because each year we assemble a men's all-star team that pits itself against the best from other schools in the Annual Biola University Intramural All-Star Football Tournament. Go Mustangs!
Our Co-ed Volleyball season also happens during the fall semester. If the intensity of the football gridiron is not your cup of tea, then you might like the camaraderie (not to mention the shelter) of indoor volleyball.
Teams are coed and matches take place on Monday and Wednesday nights at Bross gym. So bring your kneepads, your headbands, and come hang out with your friends and dorm-mates.
It doesn't hurt if you know how to play, but that's not a prerequisite. It's pretty relaxed. Just watch the ball. We don't want to see you blocking a kill with your face. That's embarrassing!
So … how's your game? Do you think you own the prettiest jumper in your dorm? Are you a monster on the boards? Are you lightning quick off the dribble? Are you an assist machine - the consummate floor general? Test your skill against your friends and dorm rivals each winter by signing up for intramural basketball.
We've got two leagues: A men's league and one just for the women. Games are played in Bross Gym on Monday and Wednesday nights from 8:00 P.M.-11:00 P.M. These leagues are competitive, so bring your best team and your "A" game. We'll supply the refs.
Intramural soccer players need only a two items to be able to play: a pair of good cleats and a desire to learn about the game. Since the spring of '96, we've been fielding men's and women's teams in April and March. Games unfold on Reese Field, where our intercollegiate teams play, so here's your chance to show what you can do. Show us your speed. Dazzle us with your dribbling. Unleash your inner striker. Bend it like what's his name.
And we're still waiting to see our first bicycle kick for a goal. Are you the one?
See you on the pitch!
What? You thought that Frisbees were only good for taking your dog to play in the park? No way! If you're looking for an intense game and some good fellowship, come check out our intense Ultimate Frisbee league.
Every fall, on Monday nights and Saturday mornings, our students battle it out on co-ed teams. Sometimes our Frisbee players leave the field more muddy and exhausted than our football players, and that's saying something!
