Biblical Counseling

Overview

Students in the Biblical Counseling emphasis are trained in the art of biblical soul care. Starting from what Scripture teaches about human nature, we work upwards to apply that teaching to the specific problems that individuals face. Our program prepares counselors to meet the needs of people with the all-sufficient resources that God provides, equipping them to bring biblical guidance and hope to sufferers in their local churches.

Dr. John Street and Dr. Stuart Scott, two of the premier leaders of the biblical counseling movement, are members of our faculty. Under the leadership of these and other like-minded counselors, our biblical counseling programs hold faithfully to the Bible-based model of counseling championed by ACBC. Biblical counseling programs at other schools typically teach an integration model, blending cherry-picked biblical principles with secular psychology. In contrast, we teach our students to understand why Scripture is sufficient to meet the needs of individuals and why Scripture alone offers people true hope.
