In a world of globalization and international trade, we consider entrepreneurship to be a perfect venue for obeying the Great Commission. Because of this, we have designed the Entrepreneurial Studies emphasis for students pursuing missional entrepreneurship—that is, the creation and control of organizations that foster disciple-making efforts, facilitate the presence of believers in venues for the glory of God, and generate a reasonable profit. The program equips marketplace ministers to initiate and grow such ventures, empowering them to advance the gospel by supporting local churches and reflecting the character of God through distinctive, biblical business practices.
We train our students in the fundamentals of business, including marketing, accounting, finance, and management, with select courses from our Communication and Computer Science departments. By interacting with businesses owned by believers, our students learn about all aspects of being an entrepreneur, including selecting partners, start-up financing, operational management, marketing strategies, and HR policies. In the process, they learn how to approach these things from a distinctly biblical worldview, preparing them to create and lead businesses in a way that glorifies God.
