SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Coming on the heels of its most successful season in program history, The Master’s College volleyball team has had a busy off-season by signing talent that anticipates continuing last year’s success.
Third-year Mustang head coach Bobby Blanken has announced the signing of Aubrey Pyburn, a Village Christian High School athlete and a native of Sun Valley, California.
Pyburn enters The Master’s College with an impressive resume of first-team All-Olympic League honors, offensive MVP recognitions with the Crusaders, and a four-year letterwinner for volleyball. Also, Pyburn earned second-team All-Olympic League kudos for basketball in her junior campaign with the Crusaders.
Off the court, Pyburn excelled in the classroom by making numerous appearances on Village Christian’s Principal’s List. Pyburn looks to continue her academic excellence by majoring in Kinesiology & Physical Education with hopes of pursuing a career in teaching and coaching.
“I chose The Master’s College because after visiting a few camps run by Coach Blanken and learning what the college was all about, I really fell in love with the campus and its environment,” commented Pyburn. “I’m excited to work with Blanken and learn under his coaching style.”
Pyburn’s main goals entering The Master’s College are to excel in the classroom and to glorify the Lord through the game of volleyball.
“She [Pyburn] is an extremely talented athlete who has an amazing work ethic,” commented Blanken. “She’s enthusiastic, likeable, and is expected to fill some big shoes. I’m excited to see how she develops as a player here at TMC.”
Blanken expects to use Pyburn as an outside hitter with the Mustangs in 2013.
