SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Coming on the heels of its most successful season in program history, The Master’s College volleyball team has had a busy off-season by signing talent that anticipates continuing last year’s success.
Third-year Mustang head coach Bobby Blanken has announced the signing of Amy King, a Hart High School athlete and a native of the Santa Clarita Valley.
In her time at Hart, King was the recipient of the team’s coaches’ award, was named the squad’s MVP in 2009, and earned second-team All-SCV honors. At Hart, King refined her skill set at the middle blocker and outside hitter positions, leading the Indians to an 18-9 overall record (7-3 in Foothill League play).
Off the court, King made her mark in the classroom by being a member of the California Scholarship Federation and a recipient of Hart High’s Scholar Athlete award.
“I chose to attend The Master’s College so that I may grow in my relationship with the Lord, and to build strong relationships with other believers,” commented King.
King enters The Master’s College looking to prepare herself for a career in health care and has goals set to be the best volleyball player she can possibly be while cultivating relationships with new friends and teammates.
“Amy is an athletically-gifted individual who measures up to the three foundations our team is built on: charity, work ethic, and enthusiasm,” commented Blanken. “She has a heart for the Lord and wants to reach out to the lost. Amy is fully behind what The Master’s College stands for and her glorifying the Lord through the sport will be anything but cliché. I’m excited to see how she will grow.”
Coach Blanken looks to slot King as an outside hitter and a defensive specialist in 2013.
