Volleyball Slams La Sierra

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Women’s volleyball (20-3) was back in action Tuesday night in a non-conference match against the Golden Eagles of La Sierra (17-10).  The match seemed to be over as soon as it started as the Mustangs closed shop after three sets (25-17, 25-16, 25-21).

TMC’s Stacy Jones (Scottsdale, AZ), Tori Callihan (Simi Valley, CA), Sam Dougherty (Madera, CA), Aubrey Bekendam (Orland, CA), Britney Jones (Northridge, CA), and Rachel Taylor (Sun Valley, CA) combined for 38 kills in the Mustangs' rout of the host Eagles. Sophomore outside hitter Alyssa Gergins (Murrieta, CA) claimed 22 assists, while junior libero Rebbeca Peluffo (La Crescenta, CA) earned 24 digs for the Mustangs.

Collectively, TMC notched 38 kills, 36 assists, 44 digs, and finished with an attack percentage of .232. Notably, the Mustangs' stingy defense held the opposition to a hitting percentage of .061 for the evening.

The Lady Mustangs, who are ranked eighth in the nation, will travel to La Mirada this Saturday to face the NAIA’s fourth-ranked team, Biola (20-2, 6-1 GSAC), in a conference showdown. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 PM in Chase Gym.
