ROCKLIN, Calif. – The Master’s University women’s soccer team battled to a scoreless double-overtime draw with the William Jessup Warriors on Saturday in Rocklin.
Saturday’s tie moved TMU’s record to 5-4-3 and 1-2-1 in Golden State Athletic Conference play.
TMU’s Michaela Rickard, Whitney Gomillion, and Suzanne Mabie each tallied three shots in Saturday’s showing. Notably, Rickard posted three shots on goal. After 110 minutes of play, TMU goalkeeper Jessica Zubia recorded two saves.
As a team, the Lady Mustangs outshot the Warriors 14-6 and fired a total of eight shots on goal.
“We just have to figure out a way to score,” commented TMU’s head coach Curtis Lewis. “We created plenty of opportunities, and William Jessup sat deep and did what they needed to do to get their first points of the GSAC season. I thought our energy was good, and we moved the ball well around William Jessup. Points are always needed in the conference standings, and although we would have wanted the full three points, it was essential that we at least garnered one.”
Looking forward, the Lady Mustangs return to action on Tuesday when they host Hope International at 3:00 p.m.
