Mastering the Mangrum

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Continuing with a stellar start to the 2013 track season, The Master’s College men’s track and field team traveled to CSU San Marcos and competed with excellence at the 2013 Mangrum Invitational.
Matthew Crichton (Mission Viejo, CA), David Eller (Los Angeles, CA), and John Gilbertson (Saugus, CA) competed in both the 1500m and the 800m.
Crichton won his heat in the 800m by clocking a time of 1 minute and 59.67 seconds. Gilbertson placed second in his heat with a time of 1:54.48. Eller posted a time of 2:00.68, respectively.
Gilbertson notched his second first-place victory of the season in the 1500m where he won his heat at 3:50.61. Crichton posted a 1500m time of 4:00.26, while Eller followed with 4:04.42.
Ryan Freeman (Highland, CA) represented the Mustangs in the 3000m steeplechase. Freeman placed third in his heat and set a new personal record at 9:57.80.
Daniel Eller (Los Angeles, CA), John Hurd (Fairview, PA), Tyler Tockstein (Santa Clarita, CA), and Camden McAlister (Saugus, CA) all competed in the 3000m. Hurd finished the event at 8:58.15, and Eller finished in 9:12.80. McAlister completed the race in 9:20.49, while Tockstein clocked a final time of 9:30.12.
Jason Logan (Spartanburg, SC) placed first in the high jump by clearing 6-8 ft (2.03m). Logan’s performance qualified him to compete in the high jump at the NAIA National Championships in May on the provisional “B” Standard.
Next up for the Mustangs is the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational, on April 13.
