November 4, 2014

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Master’s College men’s golf team finished competing in its final tournament, the CSU San Marcos Fall Classic, Tuesday afternoon before breaking for three months.   At the end of the two-day tournament, the Mustangs finished third out of a field of 12 teams, carding an 875 (290-296-289) overall score.

The University of Redlands placed first overall by collectively shooting 858 (292-281-285), while tournament-host CSU San Marcos placed second with a score of 864 (301-284-279).

Notably, for the second consecutive time, TMC placed higher than any other competing Golden State Athletic Conference school.

Samuel Esienhuth’s consistent play led the Mustangs to their second consecutive third-place finish by scoring two-under 214 (74-72-68), good enough for an overall fifth-place finish.  TMC’s Joseph Downey wasn’t far behind by tying for 12th overall after shooting 218 (71-75-72).

Now, the Mustangs will enjoy a lengthy break before competing again February 2-3 at the CSUSM Cougar Invite.  The two-day event will take place at the Shadowridge Country Club in Vista.
