GRAND PRAIRE, Texas. -- TMC’s time, at the 2012 Northwood Fall Shootout held at the Tangle Ridge Golf Course, concluded today with the Mustangs finishing eight shots off the lead. The Mustangs posted a team score of 872 at the end of the two day event. Texas Wesleyan University (862) barely edged out Cal State San Marcos (863) to take first place.
"I am very proud with how consistently the guys played over the Fall. Each event, a different player stepped up to play well,” reports Mustang Golf Coach, Jason Semelsberger.
The Mustangs produced identical results with their last showing at the CSU San Marcos Fall Classic earlier this month. But the fourth place finish was relatively pleasing to Coach Semelsberger. “We placed fourth again, but it was a much bigger and better field in Dallas.”
The top scoring leaders for Master’s were Thane Ringler (Hutchinson, KS) and Nolan Sand (Hoquiam, WA). Ringler and Sand both shot 1-under totals of 215 over the three round tournament, which tied the duo for 11th place. Not to go without notice, John Lawson (Mobile, AL) tied for 35th with a final score of 222.
After a four month hiatus, the Mustangs will return to the links on February 4th, 2013, as the squad looks to perform even better in the CSU San Marcos Spring Invite. The two day event will be held at the Shadowridge Country Club in Vista CA.
Coach Semelsberger comments on the Fall season, “We didn't quite get over the hump to win, but I am excited for future opportunities in the Spring."
