SAN MARCOS, Calif. - TMC’s strong start in the CSU San Marcos Fall Classic leaves the Mustangs excited for the entirety of their 2012-13 campaign. The Mustangs finished fourth after the first day with Thane Ringler (Hutchinson, KS) and Nolan Sand (Hoquiam, WA) leading the squad, concluding being tied with each other at ninth out of a field of 45.
Ringler finished the opening round by shooting two under par 70, and then a one-over in the second round. Collectively, the junior finished the first day with a score of 143.
Sand finished the first round with a 74, and then notched a staggering 69 in the second.
Equally important was the consistent play of Andrew Bergoon (Mobile, AL) who fired a pair of 73’s. Bergoon finished the day in a tie for 20th on the individual leaderboard.
Giving his approval of the first day’s performance, Mustang coach Jason Semelsberger states “I’m excited about this group of guys. They just keep getting better.”
The Mustangs will be back in action tomorrow as the squad looks to their next opportunity to reach the top of the leaderboard in another day of competition.
