"A Dramatic Gift"

Mission Statement

Theatre productions at The Master's College exist to glorify God and impact our community through thoughtful and excellent presentation of plays or musicals and by enjoying human creativity as a reflection of The Creator as becomes a child of God.

TMC Theatre Arts Overview

TMC Theatre Arts is a co-curricular program offered by the music department, designed to give training and expression in the performing arts along-side any major at the college. TMC Theatre Arts has been dubbed "The People's Theatre." Its participants and contributors span across all disciplines, dorms, and interests at TMC. As a co-curricular program, any participating students can receive repeating credits in either theatre arts or production techniques and this will be reflected on their transcripts.

Following a successful opening season in 2008, the theatre department continues to be an amazing tool in the hands of the Lord in so many lives. We have seen the Lord display Himself in remarkable ways, showing how even a school play can be eternally significant. Lives are being changed, attitudes and perspectives altered and love for the Lord and for each other keeps growing. Our productions beautifully illustrate how life is a precious gift and must be used for God's glory and His purpose and not be wasted!

Opportunities to be involved include acting, stage managing, lighting, sound, scenery design, costuming, and makeup. Our commitment to the process as much as the product enables us to have an others-focused theatre department. This pervades all of these areas as we strive together to serve one another using our varied giftedness.

We are excited to see how God continues to grow the program as those involved seek to serve and honor Him first and foremost through the medium of good theatre as a gift to the audience with no compromise of who we are as children of God.

Meet the Directors

Tricia Hulet
Director of TMC Theatre Arts
, Music Events Coordinator, Adjunct Faculty
B.A., The Master's College
M.A., The Master's College (completion 12/12)

Joined TMC 2004

Tricia directs the theatre arts program, produces the Christmas concerts series, manages all concerts, recitals and events through the Music Department as well as being an Adjunct Professor of Theatre Arts and Production Techniques. She is a graduate of The Master's College (MA Biblical Counseling in progress; BA Biblical Counseling/minor in Music), where she studied voice under Dr. Kimberlyn Jones and was extensively involved in musical theatre. She has held leading roles in several major productions including Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof, and Marry Lennox in the musical version of The Secret Garden. Tricia values the performing arts as a means to reflect the Creator and as a way to serve and impact the kingdom of God. She first began directing theatre in 2004 for a Christian high school. She was then brought on in 2007 to revive TMC Theatre Arts as a part of the Music Department. Tricia has seen TMC Theatre Arts function as a refining tool in many lives - shaping and sharpening hearts to live in light of the Gospel we have been graciously saved by - and used to build another example of biblical community that is a bright light to the watching world. Helping students round out their biblical worldview in the area of performing arts is a joy and blessing. She has also been involved in Santa Clarita community theatre as a performer and also as a member of the Canyon Theatre Guild. Tricia and her husband, Dave - the Associate Dean of Students here at TMC, are blessed to work at The Master's College together and be members of Grace Community Church.

"To the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen." Jude 25

Prof. Kellie Cunningham
Adjunct Faculty, Piano and Piano Pedegogy
Associate Director of TMC Theatre Arts
B.A., The Master's College

Joined TMC 2007

Prof. Kellie Cunningham serves as Associate Director of TMC Theatre Arts and teaches Piano and Piano Pedagogy as Adjunct Faculty at TMC. Kellie has always loved the dramatic. Having the opportunity to serve in directorial roles for TMC Theatre Arts is a delightful expression of her enjoyment of art and creativity as it reflects her Creator. She recognizes that even theatre can be a temporal tool in the Potter's hands to mold and shape his children into his likeness. She pursues similar goals in teaching piano and piano pedagogy at TMC, having received her Masters in Music Education and Piano Pedagogy from the University of Oklahoma and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Communication and Music from The Master's College.  As a student, she performed roles in the musicals My Fair Lady, The Secret Garden, and Fiddler on the Roof. She currently also runs a private piano studio in SCV and adjudicates for local music events. Kellie has presented nationally on piano pedagogy topics, has received numerous awards including the Gail Boyd de Stwolinski award for Excellence in Teaching, and even recorded as a solo vocalist on a Grammy-Award-winning album. She is a member of the Canyon Theatre Guild, the Music Teacher's National Association, the Music Teachers Association of California, and the California Scholarship Federation. Kellie is committed to seeing the arts as one way to express the beauty of Christ's sacrifice to a dying world.

"I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name forever. Psalm 34:1-3
