The 2013 Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches’ Preseason Top 25 Poll was released Tuesday, and The Master’s College volleyball team will begin the season as the No. 9 team in the nation.

The preseason ranking marks the first time in the program’s history that it has entered the season in the NAIA top 10.

In part, the honor reflects the team’s historic 2012 season, which saw the Lady Mustangs post a 27-8 record en route to a national tournament appearance and a season's-end No. 11 NAIA national ranking.

Heading into the national tournament in 2012, TMC had ascended to a No. 6 ranking in the NAIA national poll.

The 2013 version of the team will test its mettle often this season. On the schedule for the Mustangs are Golden State Athletic Conference rivals Concordia, the defending national champion and preseason No. 1 team, No. 4 Biola and No. 16 Westmont.

The Mustangs begin their season on Thursday against Lewis-Clark State at the Red Lion Inn Summer Slam in La Mirada, Calif.
