The Master's College volleyball team took care of business on the road Saturday night at Hope International by winning 3-0 (26-24, 25-17, 25-21).  The win put the Lady Mustangs record at 16-9 (4-6) while the Royals record fell to 5-17 (1-9).

Things did not look good early on in the first set for Coach Blanken's team.  Hope used a combination of errors by TMC and a few kills of their own to stretch the lead to 13-5.  The Lady Mustangs came alive after that and began to execute their own attacks to cut the lead to 16-12.  In that 7-4 run, Master's had kills from Rachel Taylor, Tami Brown, and Jenna Kapuscinski.  HIU then went on to stretch their lead to 23-18 with the help of a few errors by the visitors.  However, Master's never quit, and it paid off as they closed the game with an exciting 8-1 run to take the first set 26-24.  Samantha Dougherty had two kills and Jenna Kapuscinski added a kill of her own in the decisive run.

The second set was controlled by TMC. The Lady Mustangs went ahead at 12-11 and never looked back as they tacked point after point onto their lead.  Master's had nine kills from the 12th point on, and never gave Hope a chance to get back into the game.  Jamie Long and Alyssa Gergins had nine and seven assists respectively in the set, which led to the 16 kills from TMC.  The Lady Mustangs had a .412 hit percentage as they won the set 25-17.

The third set was a game of runs.  After Master's stormed out to a 9-3 lead, Hope went on a 7-0 run of its own to take a 10-9 lead.  TMC was not down for long.  The women responded and went on a 14-6 run to take a 23-16 lead. Master's had kills from five different Mustangs in that run.  Master's never really let Hope back into the game after that and went on to win the third and decisive set 25-21.

Coach Blanken's team returns to action on Tuesday night as they host Westmont.  Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
