The Master's College volleyball team went on the road Saturday evening to face No. 10 ranked Point Loma. TMC challenged all night, but came up just short in each game as it was swept 3-0. The loss drops the Mustangs record to 15-6 (3-3) as Point Loma's improves to 11-3 (3-3).
The first set was close the entire way as Point Loma's largest lead was six when it led 18-12. TMC then went on a four to one run and used kills by Victoria Callihan and Jenna Kapuscinski to close the gap to 19-16. The Sea Lions would not allow the lead to shrink anymore and went on to win the set 25-20.
In the second game there were 13 ties and 12 lead changes as the teams went back and forth the whole set. Unfortunately the last lead change went in favor of Point Loma as they went on to win the set 25-22.
The third set was controlled by the Sea Lions. The home team never allowed Master's a chance to make a run in the deciding set with a final score of 25-15 to finish off the sweep on the visiting Mustangs.
Victoria Callihan had a great performance with 11 kills and a .500 hit percentage. Jamie Long lead the way with 17 assists, and Rebecca Gieske had 12 digs.
There are no breaks in the GSAC schedule as the Lady Mustangs will now host No. 3 ranked Concordia on Tuesday, October 4th in Bross Gym. The match will start at 7:00 pm.
