June 20, 2014
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – There’s very little relief in The Master’s College women’s volleyball team’s 2014 schedule as the Lady Mustangs are slated to face eight ranked teams and three clubs receiving votes listed on the 2013 Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches’ Postseason Top 25 Poll.
Under the direction of newly-hired head coach Allan Vince, the sixth-ranked Lady Mustangs will hit the ground running as the squad is scheduled to open its season on August 16 against receiving-votes Viterbo (Wis.).
Five days later, TMC will travel to La Mirada for its annual appearance in Biola’s Summer Slam Tournament where it will take on seventh-ranked Midland (Neb.), 25th-ranked Bellevue (Neb.), 11th-ranked Dordt (Neb.), and receiving-votes Concordia (Ore.).
After a road scrimmage against Azusa Pacific on the 25th, the Lady Mustangs will open their home schedule a day later against West Coast Baptist on Bross Court. Notably, the Lady Mustangs’ home opener is expected to be filled to capacity since it is a scheduled event during TMC’s Week of Welcome for its new students.
The Lady Mustangs will get back to work on August 29 by traveling to Irvine for Concordia’s Labor Day Weekend Tournament. There, the Lady Mustangs will face Montana Tech, Mayville State (N.D.), Menlo, and Great Falls (Mont.).
The always-competitive GSAC schedule will open on September 9 in a 7:00pm road match at third-ranked Concordia. Four days later, the Lady Mustangs will travel to Costa Mesa and battle 19th-ranked Vanguard. After facing Arizona Christian, San Diego Christian, and conference newcomer William Jessup, the Lady Mustangs will face a gauntlet of GSAC powerhouses when they host 23rd-ranked Westmont on the 30th, and travel to second-ranked Biola on October 2nd.
On October 10, the Lady Mustangs will start the second half of their conference schedule against Vanguard and Concordia. The Lady Mustangs’ regular-season slate will conclude on Saturday, November 15 in a 7:00pm home match against Biola.
Sprinkled throughout the Lady Mustangs' schedule are other non-conference matches against La Sierra and receiving-votes Cal State San Marcos.
New to the Lady Mustangs’ schedule is the addition of a midseason, two-day, home tournament featuring 21st-ranked Embry-Riddle (Fla.), CSU San Marcos, Westmont, and Vanguard. The tournament will run October 17-18.
Of the scheduled 31 competitions, the Lady Mustangs are scheduled to compete in 19 road matches and 12 home events.
