BUvs.TMC_GOW.jpgSANTA CLARITA, Calif. – On Saturday, No. 3 Biola and the 11th-ranked Lady Mustangs will meet up at 7:00 p.m. on Bross Court in the NAIA’s Volleyball Match of the Week.

The Eagles enter the match with a 16-2 overall record and a 6-1 GSAC record. On the other side of the net, TMC’s overall record sits at 16-4 and 5-2 in conference play.

“I’ve always respected Biola,” commented fourth-year Lady Mustang volleyball head coach Bobby Blanken.  “Their record from the last decade proves that they are truly one of the perennial powers in the NAIA. I always look forward to playing them because it’s a great measuring stick on where we stand as we look to the postseason.”

Biola’s offense is led by Joclyn Kirton, who has a team-high 180 kills, Gracee Gallarda with 523 assists, and Amy Weststeyn, who has produced a team-leading 27 service aces to date.  Defensively, the Eagles are led by Tara Rallis, who has produced 240 digs, and Weststeyn, who leads the team and the GSAC with 60 blocks.

In conference play, Biola leads the GSAC in four different categories: Hitting Percentage (.285), Opponent Hitting Percentage (.079), Blocks (61), and Service Aces (50).

For the Lady Mustangs, Sam Dougherty (Madera, CA), leads the GSAC with 304 kills and 38 services aces, while Aubrey Bekendam (Orland, CA) leads the squad with 585 assists.  Defensively, Rebecca Peluffo (La Crescenta, CA) currently sits second in the GSAC with 338 digs, while Allison Child (Shingle Springs, CA) leads the squad with 40 blocks.

The last time both teams met up was on September 21 in La Mirada where Biola bested TMC in four sets (25-19, 25-15, 19-25 and 25-10).
