Blanken, Dougherty Highlight All-GSAC Volleyball Awards

IRVINE, Calif. - After guiding The Master's College women's volleyball team to its finest season in program history, Bobby Blanken has been named GSAC Coach of the Year by the conference coaches.
Under the tutelage of the third-year head coach, the Mustangs posted a 26-5 regular-season record, earned a No. 6 spot in the NAIA's final regular-season Top 25 Poll, and qualified for their first-ever appearance at the upcoming NAIA Volleyball National Championship. Blanken's overall record at TMC is 53-42.
TMC's Samantha Dougherty (Madera, CA) was the lone Lady Mustang to make this year’s all-conference team. Dougherty received the GSAC's "Player of the Week" award on two separate occasions this fall and was also a recipient of the NAIA's "Volleyball National Player of the Week" award. The junior outside hitter finished the regular season third in the conference in both kills and service aces.
Five GSAC teams are represented on the all-conference team and all five of those have qualified for the national tournament. Vanguard will compete in the NAIA Volleyball National Championship Opening Round this weekend while The Master's, Concordia, Biola and Westmont earned byes to the NAIA Volleyball National Championship final site in Sioux City, November 27-December 1.
