The No. 6 Lady Mustangs traveled to take on Occidental College Wednesday afternoon, pressured the Tigers early, and came home with a 4-1 victory to improve to 4-2 on the young season.
Katie Trevino opened the scoring in the 21st minute following a bobble by the Occidental goalkeeper Tayler Renshaw. Bobbie Roberts followed Trevino into the scoring column six minutes later when a shot from the top of the box found the net.
The Lady Mustangs only managed one shot over the next 12 minutes but in the 39th minute Natasha Coyle fired and scored from 30 yards out. Master's continued to pressure the Tigers through the end of the half, taking a 3-0 lead into the locker room.
Occidental's Karina Garcia scored off a crossing pass in the 77th minute to cut the deficit to 3-1, but Coach Curtis Lewis' squad answered earned that goal back when Rachel Hartenberger chipped the ball over Renshaw's head in the 85th minute of play.
Ilyssa Espiritu enjoyed another quiet afternoon in goal, facing a total of three Occidental shots on goal. Master's meanwhile took 12 shots on goal.
