Slow Start Hinders Lady Mustangs In Santa Barbara
The Master's College women's soccer team took
a tough road loss at No. 25 Westmont on Tuesday afternoon.
After the 2-1 defeat, No. 14 TMC's record now stands at 7-4 (1-1)
while Westmont rises to 7-2 (2-0.)
The first half was all Westmont as the score
going into halftime was 2-0. The Warriors got on the board
early with a goal in the tenth minute. Jenny Martinez took an
assist from Ashley Correa and buried a goal from ten yards
out.
Toward the end of the first half the home team would
strike again. This time it was Ashley Correa scoring the
goal, and the assist was from Tiffan Dimaculangan. Correa
netted the goal from 12 yards out.
The easy thing would have been for the Lady
Mustang's to pack it in, but the team responded out of
halftime.
Natasha Coyle scored unassisted from nine
yards out to cut the deficit to one, but Coach Lewis's team could
not complete the comeback though both squads were even in shots on
goal for the match.
The Lady Mustangs return to action at home on
Saturday against Azusa Pacific. The game will start at 11:00
am.
