The Lady Mustangs soccer team fought hard Saturday afternoon against No. 5 Point Loma, but lost in the final few minutes on a corner kick which handed the home team a 1-0 loss.
The start of the game was delayed just over three hours due to Point Loma's bus breaking down.
Coach Lewis' team was unaffected by the delayed start on Saturday in their game against Point Loma. TMC came out firing in the first half and maintained the tempo the whole game. The Lady Mustangs kept possession of the ball for much of the first half, connecting well with their passes, but could not find the back of the net.
Also, the defensive pressure from Master's was great. In the 26th minute, Ilyssa Espiritu had a great save that kept the game tied at 0-0 during the first half.
As the second half started, the Lady Mustangs came out strong again and continued to pressure Point Loma on both ends of the field. The defense for the Mustangs prevented the Sea Lions from getting into on offensive rhythmn in the second half.
The defensive pressure was not enough however as Kallie Caldwell took a corner kick in the 85th minute and found the back of the net without the ball being touched. That put the game at 1-0 which would be the final score.
The Lady Mustangs will host Fresno Pacific on Tuesday at Reese Field. Kickoff is set for 3:00 pm.
