SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Two months before the 2013 season opener, The Master’s College women’s soccer coaching staff has gotten a jump on its 2014 class, recently signing Victoria Gama from Riverside, California.
“I chose The Master’s College to strengthen my relationship with the Lord,” says Gama. “Coach Lewis is a great coach and the relationship he has with the team is like nothing I have ever seen.”
Gama, a senior at Polytechnic High School, has played on the varsity level since her freshman year and has earned a trove of awards such as the Newcomer award, Offensive MVP, named to the first team All-Big 8 League her freshman and sophomore year, and named to the first team All-Inland Valley league team her junior year.
Gama has also been a part of over 60 tournament victories and was the second in her league with the most goals scored as a freshman. Notably, Gama is also the Bears’ current leading scorer and has been for the last three years.
Academically, Gama is a three-year Polytechnic Scholar-Athlete.
Lady Mustang head coach Curtis Lewis anticipates Gama becoming an immediate contributor with her seasoned prep experience.
“It only took me about 15 minutes to know that we wanted her,” said Lewis. “She’s a true center-mid and opens the field to create plays. She’s an all-around player that we can build a team around. My estimate is that in 2014 when she enters, she’ll be an immediate contributor.”
Lewis plans to slot Gama at forward.
Gama anticipates living up to Coach Lewis’ expectations while building relationships with her teammates and classmates. Gama’s student-athlete goals are to be a leader on the team, and improve each year that she competes with the Lady Mustangs.
Off the field, Gama plans to major in Business Administration.
TMC went 12-6-2 in 2012 and finished 6-4 in the Golden State Athletic Conference.
For now, Coach Lewis and his squad look to write a new chapter in Lady Mustang soccer as they begin their 2013 campaign in a home opener against Grace College (IN) on August 15, at 4:00 PM on Reese Field.
