The Lady Mustang's soccer team continued their winning ways, improving to 6-2 on the season with a win over Holy Names University on Saturday. Coach Lewis' team won both games they played at the Menlo Invitational in Atherton, California.
The Hawks of Holy Names fell to 1-7 with the loss.
TMC got on the board first with a goal in the seventh minute of the match. Freshman, Katie Trevino, handled a rebound off the goalie and buried the ball in the back of the net.
Holy Names would strike back in the 21st minute of play to tie the game when Brittanie Perez scored after a Lady Mustang foul.
The game would not be tied long as Kayla Gale would score on an assist from Janelle Sullivan. Master's would stay ahead for good after that goal.
Early in the second half TMC received a crucial insurance goal when the Hawks would score an own goal.
Holy Names continued to battle and got within one goal of Master's when Rebecca Hernandez scored an unassisted goal in the 64th minute of play.
The Lady Mustangs held off the Hawks for the rest of the second half to go undefeated at the Menlo Invitational.
TMC will return to action on Saturday, September 24th at 12:00 pm against Cal State San Marcos. The game will be played at Reese Field.
