Women's Basketball Third In GSAC Poll
October 21, 2013
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Great expectations surround The Master’s College women’s basketball team as the squad was recently selected to finish third in the 2013-14 GSAC Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Preseason Poll.
In the 2012-13 season, the Lady Mustangs posted 25 wins (25-6), the fourth-most in program history, finishing a strong third in the Golden State Athletic Conference and returning to the NAIA National Tournament for the first time in five years.
The Lady Mustangs earned 50 points and received a single first-place vote. Defending GSAC Tournament champion Vanguard was selected to finish first in conference play with 59 points and four first-place votes, while reigning NAIA national champion Westmont tallied 57 points and three first-place votes, poising them for a second-place finish.
And while TMC will look to live up to its conference preseason ranking on January 14 when they open GSAC play against Hope International in Fullerton, the Lady Mustangs will get a good idea where they stand this Thursday in a 6:00 p.m. scrimmage against Cal State Long Beach at Bross Court. Next weekend, the squad will take a tour of the Pacific Northwest where it will engage in exhibition games against a pair of NCAA Division I teams: Washington State and Eastern Washington.
