Prettyman Signs With Lady Mustangs

June 30, 2014

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. -- Adding depth and talent to a veteran backcourt, Lady Mustang basketball coach Dan Waldeck has signed Lauren Prettyman for the 2014-15 season.

Calling Caddo Mills, Texas, home, Prettyman is transferring from Northwestern College in Iowa where she played one year for the Red Raiders.

On why she decided to transfer to The Master's, the 5-3 guard said, "I felt like it was a good fit as far as being on a team of uplifting girls and in a program that works hard and shows great class and character.  I'm excited for meeting new people and making good friends."

Before leaving Texas for Iowa, Prettyman was homeschooled through the 12th grade and played hoops for the Texas Home Educators' Sports Association (THESA) where she was part of a Rider team that captured its sixth straight THESA championship in 2013 before going on to win its seventh consecutive National Christian Homeschool Basketball Organization national crown.

Prettyman capped her prep career by earning all-region honors and all-national tournament team accolades.

Asked about her goals as a Mustang, the kinesiology & physical education major stated, "I want to be a big contributor to the team and earn honorable mention All-American honors."

Waldeck seems to think Prettyman will play to that level, saying, "Lauren led a great high school team and is a savvy player with a fine understanding of the game.  I'm excited to see her progress within our system, and I believe that her abilities are complemented by the way we play.  Her quickness and tenacity will be a great asset for us in our defensive pressure."

The Lady Mustangs will open their season against Westminster College at the Westminster Kickoff Classic on Friday, November 7. The squad’s home opener, however, will be on November 15 against Lewis-Clark State.

At the end of the 2013-14 season, the Lady Mustangs went 24-9 overall and 10-4 in conference play. TMC finished its season ranked 14th in the national polls, while sitting in second place in the conference standings.
