Hanson Ready To Play For Mustangs

July 3, 2014

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. -- Arianna Hanson's transfer to The Master's College last January didn't make anybody stand up and take notice.

That's all about to change this fall when the senior forward dons the blue and gold of The Master's College for her final collegiate season.  Pegged to compete for a starting job at power forward with the ability to play the three, she's described as a "stretch four" by Mustang coach Dan Waldeck.

Hanson's collegiate career began at Santa Rosa Junior College where she contributed 9.3ppg and 6.6rpg as a sophomore for a Bear Cub squad that went 27-7 overall and 8-2 in 2012-13 en route to a Big 8 Conference championship and a Final Four appearance in the state playoffs.

Hanson prepped at Rincon Valley Christian High School, playing four years for the Eagles and leading them to a 30-4 record, a league crown (12-0 in North Central League II), and a CIF State Tournament appearance in her senior season (2010-11). She earned all-league honors and was a first-team All-Redwood Empire selection.

Commenting on Hanson's skills, Waldeck said, "I define Arianna as a gritty competitor.  She plays extremely hard, has a coachable spirit, and has the ability to score and defend from all over the floor.  Her versatility fits perfectly into our defensive schemes and her toughness will bring a much-needed element to our team's production."

The Lady Mustangs will open their season against Westminster College at the Westminster Kickoff Classic on Friday, November 7. The squad’s home opener, however, will be on November 15 against Lewis-Clark State.

At the end of the 2013-14 season, the Lady Mustangs went 24-9 overall and 10-4 in conference play. TMC finished its season ranked 14th in the national polls, while sitting in second place in the conference standings.
