SANTA CLARITA, Calif. -- In its third year of competition, the track and field program of The Master’s College has placed two distance runners in the prestigious Stanford Invitational to be held in Palo Alto on April 6-7.
Anthony Pizzo (Valencia, CA) and John Gilbertson (Saugus, CA) qualified for the Stanford event with 5000-meter times of 14:10.64 and 14:11.96, respectively, at the Ben Brown Invitational on March 10 at Cal State Fullerton.
Pizzo and Gilbertson, both natives of the Santa Clarita Valley, have trained together for their three years at TMC. Prior to their time at TMC, they competed on the prep level with Pizzo running for Canyon High School and Gilbertson for Los Angeles Baptist.
Under the leadership of head coach Zach Schroeder, the duo will be competing against runners from notable NCAA Division I Universities such as Stanford, California, Texas, Washington State, and Oklahoma.
The Mustang distance squad will be competing this weekend (March 31-April 1) in the California-Nevada Collegiate Track & Field Championships at Claremont College.
