“What I most look for in athletes is coachability,” said Schroeder.  “More than standout times, I’m looking for athletes that will fully buy into the system.  I want kids that want to truly invest their athletic talents for the next four years in our program in a very unique way.  I ask my team to go “all-in”; to hold back nothing; to pursue excellence in a way that many perceive to be extreme.  I see this desire and heart in Ryan, and I’m confident that adding him to our roster will only deepen his passion for the Lord and the sport, as well as deepen the passion of the rest of the team.”

Among a variety of schools to choose from, Freeman chose TMC because, “God opened the door for me to attend The Master’s.  I enjoy the atmosphere of the college and I look forward to growing spiritually as well as athletically.”  Ryan also believes the college “matches my personality.”  The new signee looks forward to “being in a positive environment and Christ-centered community with the team as well as the students.”

Coach Schroeder is excited to have Ryan join the team this fall as the Mustang men look to chase down a “three-peat” GSAC title, followed by what they hope will be the college’s first NAIA National Championship title.

Freeman’s collegiate goal is certainly a match: “to help The Master’s College be the top NAIA college in the nation.”

It’s difficult to say who’s more excited, Coach Schroeder or Ryan. “I’ve been looking forward to this chapter in my life for a really long time,” Freeman said, “glorifying God through my running at the college level.”

Coach Schroeder and the men's and women's distance squad will begin their fall 2012 campaign at the U.C. Riverside Invitational on Septmeber 15th.
