SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Adding to a strong recruiting class for the 2014 season, Jim Rickard, head coach of The Master’s College men’s soccer team, is pleased to announce the signing of Kipp Barnes.

“The leadership, the weather, the soccer, and the new start being at The Master’s College has to offer makes me thrilled to be there in the fall,” commented Barnes.

Barnes, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, looks to aid the Mustangs as a center striker. Off the pitch, Barnes looks to major in Business Administration.

Looking ahead to his time at The Master’s College, Barnes aims to “be the player that teammates can rely on and the one that the team looks to when a game-changing event is needed.”

“Ideally, I want to move on and play at the next level. I will give and do everything it takes to make that happen,” further commented Barnes. “I definitely feel that Coach Rickard is capable of helping me move on to that level”

Rickard comments on Barnes’ signing by saying, “Kipp is a talented forward with great size and skill.  He is a player who has really blossomed in the past two years.  His recruiting visit helped him focus on what he needs to work on to be a great college player.  He will come into preseason after playing with a talented club team with excellent coaching.  Kipp has been very involved in missions’ trips and school activities.  He will provide great spiritual leadership to his teammates during his time at the college.  The Mustang family is very excited about Kipp along with the entire recruiting class.”

The 2014 season will begin with the Mustangs traveling to Salt Lake City, Utah, for Westminster’s Kickoff Classic.  On August 23, the Mustangs will face the University of Great Falls (MT) in a 4:00pm match.  The next day, the Mustangs will take on the host Griffins at 2:30pm.

Barnes will make his debut on Reese Field in TMC’s home opener against Marymount College on Tuesday, August 26 at 4:00pm.
