Men’s Soccer Alum Signs With OC Blues
April 1, 2014
IRVINE, Calif. – Fabrice Gautrat, an alumnus of The Master’s College men’s soccer team (2009-11), has signed to play for the OC Blues Football Club, a United Soccer Leagues professional team.
“I am a hard worker, and I understand that nothing comes easy in this world without hard work,” commented Gautrat in a recent interview with the Orange County Blues. “I am very positive and I know how to turn negative or dire circumstances into positive ones.”
Gautrat, 26, joins the Blues after competing in France for the Championnat de France amateur (CFA), for Marseille Consolat, and UJA Maccabi Paris Métropole in Championnat de France amateur. Recently, after competing in the OC Blues game against LA Galaxy II, Gautrat was named to the All-USL Pro Team of the week.
In his time at The Master’s College, Gautrat, a captain for the Mustangs, was named to the 2009 NAIA All-Tournament team, and was an All-GSAC selection in 2011. Towards the end of his career as a Mustang, Gautrat played a pivotal role in the Mustangs’ success by leading the squad to multiple playoff appearances. Staying close to his roots, Gautrat helped out last season as an assistant coach for the Mustangs under the leadership of 23-year head coach Jim Rickard.
“Fabrice came from our first tryout back in November”, says OC Blues General Manager Jon Spencer on Gautrat. “He is left-footed and we feel he will be important at center back or left back. He is another player we are excited to sign. He is someone with a desire to see his career move forward.”
The OC Blues’ home opener is slated for Saturday, April 5 against the OKC Energy at the UCI Anteater Stadium.
