May 22, 2014

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The Master’s College men’s soccer team gains depth in the wake of signing Joshua Lee of Marysville, Washington.

“I want to earn playing time in my freshman year, increase my strength and speed, and contribute to the team with a spirited work ethic in practice and in games,” commented Lee.

Lee’s repertoire consists of Washington State Defensive Player of the Year honors during his junior and senior season, making an appearance in the state’s championship game in 2013, being voted first team defense at the state tournament in 2013, and being voted first team All-State Defense 2012 and 2013. In addition, Lee was named Grace Academy’s team captain in 2011, 2012, and 2013.

The newest mustang is also a three-sport varsity letterman after completing successful careers in soccer, basketball, and golf.

When not excelling in athletics, Lee succeeded in the classroom by being a part of the National Honor Society and serving in Grace Academy’s student leadership council.

I’m excited about the opportunity to live and manage my time independently. I’m also looking forward to playing for coach Rickard and take advantage of spiritual growth opportunities on campus.”

"Joshua is an intimidating defender with great composure and leadership skills," commented Mustang head coach Jim Rickard. "His club and high school coaches  have prepared him well for the college level and we are excited for him to begin training with us. Joshua also brings a heart for missions which is a great compliment to who we are at Master's.  Our mutual goal is to honor The Lord with the gifts and abilities He's given us, Joshua is a tremendous addition to our recruiting class."

Lee looks to support the Mustangs as a center back, left back, or right back.

Off the field, Lee plans to major in Liberal Studies to prepare for a hopeful career as a teacher.

The 2014 season will begin with the Mustangs traveling to Salt Lake City, Utah, for Westminster’s annual fall classic.  On August 23, the Mustangs will face the University of Great Falls Argos in a 4:00 PM match.  The next day, the Mustangs will take on the Westminster Griffins at 2:30 PM.

Lee will make his debut on Reese field in TMC’s home opener against Marymount College on Tuesday, August 26 at 4:00 PM.
