SANTA Clarita, Calif. – The Master’s College men’s soccer team deepened its roster with the recent signing of Northridge, California, native Scott Landon.
“I look forward to being surrounded by a Christian environment while developing my education and athleticism,” commented Landon. “I think all of these factors will help me in the long run.”
Head coach Jim Rickard believes that Landon can make an immediate impact for the Mustangs.
“I’ve been looking for a big, strong, and smart central defender who is composed and good with the ball,” commented head coach Jim Rickard. “Scott is mature, and I feel he can play right away. He fits exactly what we’ve been looking for and I’m excited to have him here at The Master’s College.”
Landon played for Granada Hills Charter High School where he earned the Players' Choice Award in 2008. Later, Landon spent some time at Los Angeles Mission College where he was a first-team All-Western State Conference selection. Landon’s club experience includes time spent with Valley United in 2013-14 and the Santa Clarita Storm this summer.
Off the pitch, Landon plans to major in Mathematics for a desired career as an engineer.
“I am excited to have this different college experience,” further assessed Landon. “Rather to have to focus solely on grades and academics, I’m excited to go to chapel and be with the community.”
The 2014 season will begin with the Mustangs traveling to Salt Lake City, Utah, for Westminster’s Kickoff Classic. On August 23, the Mustangs will face the University of Great Falls in a 4:00pm match. The next day, the Mustangs will take on the host Griffins at 2:30pm.
Landon will make his debut on Reese Field in TMC’s home opener against Marymount College on Tuesday, August 26 at 4:00pm.
