SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The Master’s College men’s soccer team looks to a strong future with the signing of Kuwait City’s Joseph Hess.

“I want to contribute to the success of The Master’s College soccer team by helping the squad win a GSAC title and making an appearance at nationals,” commented Hess.

Hess enters his time at The Master’s College well prepared as the newest Mustang boasts a resume consisting of being a KSAA Kuwait Varsity Soccer Champion in 2012-14, an ISAC Varsity Soccer Middle East Champion from 2012-14, and an AUK High School Soccer Tournament champion in 2014 (runner up in 2013). In addition, Hess was a member of AC Milan’s Kuwait Branch club team.

Hess will graduate from the American School of Kuwait this summer.

Joseph game.jpegCommenting on why Hess chose The Master’s College, the future Mustang stated “I was attracted to the Christ-centered soccer program competing in the competitive GSAC. From the first time I spoke with Coach Rickard, I knew that he led a program that was all about Christ, and succeeding on the soccer field for His Glory. When I met the players, I witnessed their devotion to Christ personally and I knew that this was a place where I would continue to grow in my relationship with the Lord and to develop as a soccer player.”

Hess looks to support the Mustangs in the midfield position.

"Joseph is a talented and skilled midfielder,” remarked Mustang head coach Jim Rickard. “He has proven himself at the youth level and is now ready to take his abilities to the college game.  He is a young man who has a heart to grow in the Lord and that was very evident during the recruiting process. We are thrilled he chose The Master's College."

Off the field, Hess plans to major in Communications to prepare for a future in advertising.

“Having been born and raised in the Middle East, I am excited to be studying in a Christian school with professors who love Christ for the first time in my life,” further comments Hess.

The 2014 season will begin with the Mustangs traveling to Salt Lake City, Utah, for Westminster’s annual fall classic.  On August 23, the Mustangs will face the University of Great Falls Argos in a 4:00 PM match.  The next day, the Mustangs will take on the Westminster Griffins at 2:30 PM.

Hess will make his debut on Reese field in TMC’s home opener against Marymount College on Tuesday, August 26 at 4:00 PM.
